Hi everyone!
Today I wanted to talk about some groups that I've been into a lot lately. As you all know, I've been a big jpop and kpop fan for many years now, and there are so many groups that I love. Last year saw the disbandment of many of my favorite kpop groups (4minute), as well as graduations from my favorite idols (Shimazaki Haruka), both of which has left me pretty devastated. I contemplated putting an end to my j/kpop endeavors, but let's be real here, both genre's of music have been a part of my life for quite some time, and there are always new groups appearing throughout the years, so I don't need to quit just because one of many groups/idols decided to kick the can lol.
That being said, I've got a list of groups that I wanted to share with you all! This is neither a "rookie group" or "newbie" list, however, the groups I've chosen are all groups that are either relatively new, or underrated in my eyes. I'm going to break this post into two parts, one being for girl groups, and my next post being for boy groups. So, without further ado, let's get to it!

Oh My Girl (KPOP)
Right, where do I start with this group? Honestly, I had little knowledge about them for a while, all I heard of them was that they were were called Oh My Girl and they had similar traits to SNSD, Apink and other "cute" starting girl groups. I was introduced to them by one of my friends on twitter and just completely fell in love with them? They know how to try out different genre's of music and tend to try a new concept with every comeback which is great. If i'm being completely honest, I stopped listening to kpop for a while because it just felt so repetitive, but Oh My Girl managed to bring my interest back, which i'm thankful for. I don't think i've seen a girl group with such great lineup of vocalists, dancers and rapper for a while, and OMG definitely has the whole package. I have no doubt that this year will be the year that they break out and catch up with other rookie girl groups like Black Pink, Twice, and Gfriend. Here is one of my favorite comebacks from them, Closer.

Angerme (JPOP)
Ah, Angerme. Originally known as S/mileage, they are a group from Hello!Project (the same company Morning Musume are from) who have re-branded themselves into what I think, is now the best group in the company. They have a lot of member graduations and additions. Last year we saw the graduation of my favorite member Meimi, and the addition of two promising girls Moe and Momona. Their style of music is very diverse as well. From Smileage days, they've always been a cute group, but over the last few years they've been experimenting with some new styles. Every new single they release has a different image to the last, and I think that's great for fans who aren't too keen on a group that has a set theme. The groups leader, Wada Ayaka has just been announced as the next Hello!Project leader, a very important role to have. During the reveal, she announced that she plans to make Angerme the top group of Hello!Project, a title that Morning Musume currently hold. The new members are developing their skills quickly, and the groups dancing and vocal capability are top tier. I have high hopes that this group will do amazingly well this year. Here is one of their most recent songs, Wasurete Ageru.

Pristin / Pledis Girlz (KPOP)
*Screams* I love this group? I've only really paid attention to them recently (read: this month) but I've fallen in love them them all. You know, I just need to take this moment to praise Pledis Entertainment for working their way up from being near bankrupt, to creating amazing groups like Seventeen and their new sister group, Pristin. Just like seventeen, this group is filled with talented girls, and when I say talent I realy mean it lol. Every girl in this group has a role that they literally slay in. Even if their main role is a rapper, they can still sing very well. Even if they're a singer, they can still dance with ease. Ever member is a jack of all trades. Almost all the members joined the elimination show "Project 101", with Nayoung and Jieqiong making the final cut into the group I.O.I (which actually had their last official concert today and i'm still crying!!). This group is set to debut later on this year and I'm sure that they will make the same impact that Seventeen did when they debuted. Look out for them! Here is their prededut single, WE

TWICE (KPOP)
I feel like I don't need to introduce this group since I'm pretty sure their meme has made them popular already, but this is TWICE, currently one of the most popular rookie girl groups in Korea, and probably the whole of Asia. From JYP, They tare the little sisters of Wonder Girls and Miss A, so of course, we expected greatness from them, and did they deliver! Most rookie girl groups can barely get over 50million views on their music videos, but Twice managed to do it in under a month, twice (no pun intended)! They have created such a buzz in Korea, but I feel like this is only the start for them. They have lots of haters, which in my eyes is a good thing, because you know who else has tons of haters? SNSD, and they're now the biggest girl group in Asia. "my era" of KPOP is coming to an end, with the disbandment of so many loved groups from 2004-2012 (like Miss A, 4minute and 2NE1), but I can also see the start of a new era, and Twice is the leading girl group for it. I'm honestly so excited to see how far they can go from here! Here is one of their most iconic songs, TT.

Keyakizaka46 (JPOP)
Honestly, if you didn't think I would include this group on my list, you need to read my blog more haha! Nogizaka46's sister group comes in at first place for girl groups you need to look out for in 2017! Why? Because in under 8 months since debut, they managed to sell more than 1 million CD's, sell out their first concert, get invited to two of the most prestigious music events in Japan, and have their song rank in the top 10 Japanese songs of the year. That's huge for an idol group. It's something that no idol group has ever done before. So yeah, it's not just my bias showing lol. Keyaki for me, is a group i've been excited for since their announcement, but I never expected their reception to be this big. It's actually shocking to see how fast they are improving and how well they're doing, but I'm so proud of them. Silent Majority took japan by storm, and I'm sure they will release another song that will do the same later on this year. Please, look out for this group! Here is their most recent single, and my favorite from them, Futari Saison
And that's it! I hope you enjoyed reading this list and listening to the songs! I think these girl groups are definitely going to rock both the jpop and kpop industries, some of them already have! I'm really looking forward to seeing how each group progresses, and I hope my post has make you like the groups enough to follow them too!
Thanks for reading!
